Frequently Asked Questions

Concrete volume = Length × Width × Depth. For example, a 4 m × 3 m slab at 100 mm (0.1 m) thick = 4 × 3 × 0.1 = 1.2 m³. Always add a 10% waste factor, giving 1.32 m³ for this slab.
A 60 lb (27 kg) bag covers approximately 0.45 cu ft (0.0127 m³). For 1 m³ you need roughly 79 bags of 60 lb, or 59 bags of 80 lb. The exact number depends on the bag yield specified by the manufacturer.
Slabs and walls use cuboid volume (L × W × D). Round footings and columns use cylindrical volume (π × radius² × depth). The calculator handles each shape separately so you always get the correct formula for your pour type.
Pre-mixed bags are economical for small pours under 0.5 m³ (around 40 bags). For larger pours, a ready-mix truck is faster and cheaper per m³. The threshold is typically 1–2 cubic yards — consult your local supplier for quotes.
A standard general-purpose mix is 1:2:4 (cement:sand:aggregate by volume). For higher-strength structural work, use 1:1.5:3. The calculator assumes a standard mix; use the Cement Calculator for custom mix ratios.
Concrete pours always lose some material to spillage, uneven forms, and over-filling. A 10% waste factor is standard for slabs and walls. Footings and columns in unstable soil may need 15–20% more.

  1. Volume = 4 × 3 × 0.1 = 1.2 m³
  2. Add 10% waste: 1.2 × 1.10 = 1.32 m³
  3. Convert to cubic feet: 1.32 × 35.315 = 46.6 ft³
  4. 60 lb bags yield ~0.45 ft³ each: 46.6 ÷ 0.45 = 103.6 → 104 bags
  5. Or: 80 lb bags yield ~0.60 ft³ each: 46.6 ÷ 0.60 = 77.7 → 78 bags
Resultado: A 4 m × 3 m × 100 mm slab requires approximately 1.32 m³ of concrete — 104 sixty-pound bags or 78 eighty-pound bags, including a 10% waste allowance.
