The GMAT Focus Edition launched in 2024 as a shorter, more focused version of the legacy GMAT. It dropped Integrated Reasoning and Analytical Writing in favor of three equal sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. Each section scores 60–90, and the total composite ranges from 205 to 805.
Percentile rank is the most meaningful number for MBA admissions because it contextualizes your score against the population of test-takers — who are, by definition, self-selected MBA candidates. An 85th-percentile score is competitive for most top-50 programs; 90th+ is generally competitive for top-25; 95th+ for M7 programs.
The legacy-to-Focus concordance is relevant for applicants who have both a legacy GMAT score and are considering a retake on the Focus Edition. The calculator notes approximate equivalences for planning retake strategy.
